Artist's Statement

Working with clay for many years, I have developed a deep appreciation for American styled Raku. Almost all of the clay pieces I create are fired using Raku styled technique. The astonishing results produced by this method allow me to communicate a message with my art. I look to history, mythology, and nature for my inspiration. The pre-Columbian cultures of South America are a current source of ideas for my work. A truly beautiful aspect of making Raku pottery is that each time I draw a new piece from the kiln I am rewarded by the certainty of having produced a unique and irreplaceable piece of art.
